The sun sets over the hills, painting the sky in watercolor layers of orange, pink, and blue. Smoke from the fire pit fills the air, mingling with the lingering taste of whiskey on your tongue. Wrapped in your boyfriend’s denim jacket, you cozy up and take in the western skyline. Your feet are kicked up on the table, dust caked on your boots from running wild through the fields with the horses. As the clock strikes midnight, you snap back to reality, leave Ray’s Bar and head back to your Greenpoint four-story walk-up.
